Automotive Apprenticeships

The automotive and mechanic trade is for engine fanatics of all makes and models.

If you are looking to find a mechanic apprenticeship, you can choose from roles focused on selected engine types and sizes.

Heavy Vehicle Mechanics work on large mobile machinery such as mining vehicles, commercial trucks, agricultural and earthmoving equipment.

Qualified heavy vehicle mechanics may find employment with large logistics companies in the mining sector, in regional locations for farming and agriculture, and with government departments maintaining commercial fleets. See also Diesel Fitter Apprenticeships and Mobile Plant Mechanic Apprenticeships.

Light Vehicle Mechanics generally work on cars in an automotive workshop setting.

Automotive Mechanics may specialise as brake mechanics, automotive air conditioning mechanics or breakdown service officers. With advancements in automotive technology, more electronic controls and computers are now fitted to vehicles. As a result, Automotive Mechanics are becoming more specialised in the space.

Each automotive apprenticeship take around 4 years to complete during which you’ll undertake paid, hands-on training in a real workplace and complete a nationally accredited qualification.
