Apprenticeship Resources for Parents
MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees is a Group Training Organisation with over 35 years of experience matching Australians with a trade apprenticeship.
As a specialist employer of Australian Apprentices, we are driven by a single purpose: to connect talented candidates with the right jobs that will set them up for successful, rewarding, and long-lasting careers.
How it All Works
MIGAS recruits and employs apprentices and place them with a host company where they will complete their hands-on, practical training. We work with household names across Australia like Shell's QGC business, Origin Energy, Johnson Controls, Bengalla Mining Company, Bradken, Arnott's Biscuits, Ferrero Australia, Jaybro, Siemens. Roadtek, University of Queensland and more, as well as successful privately owned small and medium businesses.
In addition, as the legal employer of the apprentice, we coordinate off-the-job training that results in a nationally accredited qualification for the apprentice, and provide ongoing mentoring and support throughout the duration of their apprenticeship.
Supporting Your Child to Find an Apprenticeship
If you're wanting to help a family member or friend find an apprenticeship, MIGAS can help. We operate throughout New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.
We specialise in traditional trade apprenticeships and provide trade specialisation information that may be useful when deciding what kind of job would be the best fit. These are:
- Engineering Trade Apprenticeships
- Electrical Apprenticeships
- Automotive Apprenticeships
- Construction Apprenticeships
- Green / New Energy Apprenticeships
We also provide trade and vocational traineeships including business, IT, warehousing, and civil construction.

To Give You Peace of Mind...
MIGAS is a not-for-profit operating in Australia since 1988. We've equipped thousands of tradies who work throughout Australia.
Per a 2021 report by NCVER, our apprenticeship completion rate is well above the national average of Australian Apprenticeships.
Each apprentice gets a dedicated team member who conducts on-the-job performance management and coordinates on-site training, and we believe this significantly contributes to more of our apprentices completing their qualification to become a tradie.
At MIGAS, diversity is more than a pledge; it is the foundation of what we do. We are an equal opportunity employer that welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and actively promotes women in trades. (We have a whole podcast series on Women in Trades.)
- We have an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander apprentice participation rate of 9% and recently onboarded a cohort of seven indigenous apprentices who are returning to country
- We have 9% female representation in our trade apprenticeships, which is nine times higher than the national average according to a 2022 EWIT report.
Mental Health for Apprentices
Health and wellbeing are essential while undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship. We have several initiatives for apprentices and trainees, including supporting a dedicated, free text-and-call counselling service through our Alliance partnership with TIACS.
Our on-site team members are all accredited Mental Health First Aiders – training that is also delivered across Australia through our Registered Training Organisation, MiTraining.
We give every apprentice a uniform allowance for their Personal Protective Equipment (so it's free, too).
Heather first joined MIGAS as a school-based trainee, before progressing to a full-time Water Treatment Operations Traineeship.
