MiScholarship Recipients Exemplify Talent in Trades
Isabella completed her IT Traineeship with host company Jaybro Group, and was awarded a Top Performer - Trainee MiScholarship.
As part of our commitment to fostering the next generation of skilled professionals, MIGAS is thrilled to unveil the latest recipients of the MiScholarship Program.
This announcement comes as a highlight of the National Apprenticeship Week festivities, celebrating the achievements and potential of apprentices and trainees nationwide.
The MiScholarship Program, an annual initiative, is designed to support MIGAS apprentices and trainees in their career advancement, providing up to $25,000 in financial assistance. These funds are aimed at helping top performers to further their education and skills in their chosen trades.
This year’s scholarship program was a showcase of talent across categories Top Performer – Apprentice, Top Performer – Trainee, Top Performer – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pathways, and Top Performer – Women in Trades.
Selection for MiScholarships is rigorous, involving a comprehensive multi-stage process. Candidates submit written applications, bolstered by supporting statements from MIGAS Field Officers and Host Employers, as well as compelling video submissions.
Finalists and MiScholarship recipients were celebrated in a special virtual ceremony held on Thursday 15 February 2024. The event brought together MIGAS host employers, industry representatives, and the apprentices and trainees themselves in a collaborative celebration of excellence and achievement.
Highlighting the ceremony was a keynote address Olympic legend Duncan Armstrong OAM.
Duncan became a household name when he claimed one of only three Olympic Gold medals Australia won at the Seoul Games in 1988. The victory also broke the 200 freestyle World Record to win Australia’s 100th medal in Olympic competition.
A truly inspirational Australian with a truly inspiration story, Duncan shared some of his funniest and memorable moments from inside his Green and Gold tracksuit, and the lessons life has presented to him.
As we celebrate the 2023 MiScholarship recipients, MIGAS looks forward to supporting these talented individuals on their paths to success in their respective fields.

About the MiScholarship Program
The MiScholarship Program is deliberately not an awards program. MIGAS has designed it to be a scholarship program with a clear mission to provide tangible support to our apprentices and trainees.
While recognising and celebrating their exceptional achievements is important, the heart of this program lies in offering financial assistance and opportunities for growth.
By awarding scholarships and grants, we aim to empower our apprentices and trainees, enabling them to pursue their career aspirations, overcome challenges, and continue their journey of excellence within the industry.
This program is not just about acknowledging their accomplishments but also about investing in their future success.
