What is the difference between an apprenticeship and a traineeship?
The term Australian Apprenticeships covers both apprenticeships and traineeships. The type is determined by the nationally accredited qualification you will complete as part of your training.
Typically apprenticeships include skilled or traditional trades like electrical, engineering, automotive and construction specialisations, and take around 4 years to complete.
Traineeships are often in vocational areas such as business, warehousing and logistics, IT and retail, and usually take 1-2 years to complete.
However, some traineeships are trades-focused and can take 2-3 years such as Water Treatment, Civil Construction, and Gas Plant Operations Traineeships.
